Driver License Examiner
Have you ever wondered how Driver Licenses are issued? Here is your opportunity as the Yuma County Clerk’s office is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter individual as a Driver License Technician position. A valid Driver’s License is required for travel to branch office in Yuma two days per week. Having excellent customer service skills is required as well as cashiering experience. Cross-training in other Clerk departments is required. Bilingual is beneficial but not a requirement.
Patrol Deputy Position
If you are interested in a career in law enforcement in a rural setting the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of Patrol Deputy. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are interested in making a difference in their community. The Sheriff’s Office is a family first organization that places a high value on the training of it deputies.
Duties performed by deputies are listed below but not limited to:
- Responding to calls for service involving in progress criminal activity in the county
- Investigations into theft, assaults, burglaries & other reported crimes in the county– these can be minor offenses to serious felonies
- Service of civil papers
- Write clear and concise reports detailing facts of investigations.
Deputies are encouraged to be proactive in investigating crimes in Yuma County and will also assist other law enforcement agencies in the performance of their duties. They also must be willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays and be on call.
Applicants must be 21 years old, be Colorado POST certified, have a High school diploma or GED and possess a valid driver’s license. Starting pay is approximately $43,680 per year.

Detention Deputy
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for our Detentions Division! Working in the jail is a great way to start and grow your law enforcement career. We offer many opportunities for supplemental training and certifications including Taser, other less lethal munitions, Gracie Survival Tactics (Jiu Jitsu), multi-platform armorer courses, and more. Jail staff are also eligible to try out for our tactical SPEAR Team after they complete the required probationary period.
Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks and are preferred to have moderate computer skills. Daily tasks may include but are not limited to booking and bonding inmates, serving meals, dispensing medication, coordinating paperwork with the courts, performing cell shakedowns, and transporting inmates. Substantial training hours at the shooting range can also be expected.
Starting salary is $18 per hour. There is a $500 bonus at the end of 90 days and a $1,000 bonus at one year. The Sheriff’s Office also provides excellent benefits and insurance packages including vision and dental.

Yuma County Road & Bridge is currently hiring all positions. A valid drivers license and pre-employment physical and drug screen are required for all positions due to the safety-sensitive nature of the work. CDLs are preferred for most positions, though options are available to train for your CDL while you work. Available positions include:
