The Wildfire Resiliency Code Board (WRCB) within the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control is beginning interest group and public engagement through virtual town halls to raise awareness of and seek feedback on the draft State Wildfire Resiliency Code. The Board helps enhance community safety and resiliency from wildfires through the adoption of codes and standards, and represents diverse perspectives (including DOLA’s Colorado Resiliency Office) as it works to define areas in Colorado facing the greatest wildfire risk and develop minimum wildfire resiliency codes.
The 90-minute sessions will include a brief overview of the mission, responsibilities, and progress of the Board followed by a review of the draft code before opening the floor for public comment. Those interested in providing comments during a session are asked to RSVP via the public feedback form. Written comments may also be submitted to the WRCB. While the listed meetings are geared towards specific interest groups, all meetings are open to the public, allowing for flexibility in attendance.

In order to remain eligible for Prop 123, local governments must demonstrate they have implemented an expedited review process for affordable housing by the end of 2026. This LPC grant program provides funding to support local governments with implementation of this requirement and can also support local government capacity to achieve local affordable housing goals and Prop 123 commitments.
Communities are encouraged to apply early to allow sufficient time for implementation before the deadline. Applicants in this upcoming funding cycle would be notified of awards in April which would allow approximately 12-18 months for implementation efforts. Communities that wait until future funding cycles, will have less than a year to achieve the Prop 123 requirements.
Eligibility Note: Only local governments that have filed a Prop 123 commitment with DOLA's Division of Housing are eligible for this funding.
Starting January 2025, the Division of Local Government will be making changes to the Local Government Resources Call, with the November 20 call being the final call of 2024.
After taking a break in December to accommodate the holiday season, we will return on a bi-monthly schedule on Wednesday, January 15 at 11 a.m., with topics and programs that support local governments beyond funding navigation.
We will continue to provide DOLA and partner agency updates to local communities before moving into the presentation that covers a new topic each month.
Interested participants are encouraged to register, even if they are unable to attend, to receive the call recording, presentation, and notes afterwards.
Upon registering, participants will be able to automatically add these recurring meetings to their calendars.

Local Planning Capacity grants support local government efforts to implement systems that fast track or expedite the development review process for affordable housing. These funds can also support local government capacity to achieve local affordable housing goals and local governments’ Prop 123 commitments. Many grantees are exploring land use code amendments, implementing process improvements to streamline the development review process, or investing in permitting software as part of their strategy. Others will use grant funds to inventory potential properties for future affordable housing projects, designate a liaison to work with developers, implement a housing action plan, incentive programs for affordable housing, or efforts to achieve Prop 123 goals such as preservation of mobile home parks.
